Lazy Labor Day in Wickenburg, Arizona

Hello once again,

I just thought I would drop by the office today to blog a little bit about Labor Day.  Usually this is a day of relaxation and for some people it’s just a day to be lazy.  Well, that’s not the case for me.  Today I just see another Monday to where I feel the need to “get back to the grind”.  However, on cloudy, Wickenburg day like today I feel the urge to go out and experience some of the breathtaking scenery that Wickenburg has to offer.

I’ve been thinking about what I want to do today and it’s a toss up between whether I would like I would just like to take an easy drive through some of the old mining trails passed box canyon or even just head down into box canyon and enjoy the nice weather.  I have also been thinking about taking a short drive south of Wickenburg to its highest peak, Vulture Peak, and hiking to the top of it.   The view from the top of Vulture Peak is absolutely astonishing.  You can see all the way into Glendale (on a clear day) and you can clearly see the new Cardinals Stadium over 60 miles away.

However, it is pretty overcast today, so the visibility from the top of Vulture Peak won’t be as good as I usually like it.  Hopefully I can get up there one of these days when there isn’t a cloud in the sky and show you guys some pictures from the top.

So for today, it’s looking like I’m going to spend another day in one of my favorite places in the world, Box Canyon.  I have been going to box since I was in diapers and is probably one of the most beautiful places to be in Wickenburg, Arizona.  And since it is only a short distance north up the Hassayampa River, it is an ideal place to spend a day or even a weekend with friends and family.  Unfortunately there are some people that think that they can do whatever they want, and that they can leave trash behind for all the locals (mainly me) to pick up.  That really gets my blood boiling when someone disrespects our “hang out” like that.

So we only ask that you follow one rule when you visit Box Canyon:

You pack it in, you pack it out.

Simple enough?  Well, I feel like I’ve ranted enough today.  Hopefully I’ll see you out at Box today, or sometime in the future.

Thanks for reading,

~Kyle
